Helena Chlepnac, Master of Counselling
Australian Counselling Association registered
As a mature woman I have first hand experience with the challenges, confusion and feelings that many life events provoke. Often these events leave us feeling alone, isolated and out of control. As a mental health professional I have worked extensively with a wide range of clients in the fields of multi-generational trauma, couple therapy, drug and alcohol counselling and cancer management therapy.
As a small child I lived through the loss of my mother to cancer and witnessed firsthand how it affected my father and family. Then as a grown woman I faced my own personal experience with breast cancer and have a deep understanding of how cancer effects the individual, their children, their partners, friends and family.
These personal experiences, alongside my professional qualifications and training, enable me to understand and stand side by side with others facing their own healing journey often defined by fear, loneliness and confusion.
At the heart of the therapeutic work undertaken together, clients discover a stronger sense of self, personal responsibility, self-worth, and empowerment that propels them towards the fulfilment of personal goals or the discovery of new possibilities and directions.
The therapeutic approach is based in cognitive, behavioural therapies and is informed by narrative theory. Somatic approaches to resolving emotional blocks are used in conjunction with techniques such as EMDR and mindfulness.
Counselling sessions are between 50 minutes and 90 minutes in duration and are available face to face, via the telephone or video counselling and if required at home.
These sessions can be either one on one, with significant others, friends and family members.
Fees are not covered by Medicare or Private Health insurance
